  • Collective name for the 4 dragons (some sources have it as 4, 8 or 10) who ruled the cardinal directions and lived in crystal palaces in the sea.

Ao Jun:
Western Sea, brother of Ao Kuang

Ao Kuang, King of the Dragon Kings:
Eastern Sea and brother of Ao Jun. Son is Ao Ping, who took over for Ao Kuang when he died.
Ancient Deities says that the kings were Kuang-te, Kuang-lo, Kuang-jun, and Kuang-she.

They were still subjects of the Gods, especially Yu ti.

The Enlightener of Darkness controlled the light and dark by opening and closing his eyes. His breath brought rain and wind.

The Dragon Kings were often recognized as brothers while they travelled.
