Below is a summary of the tale found in the book.

Hsu Chen-chiin (Sun) was a magical magistrate that helped many of his people.
During one troubled time he joined with the magician Kuo P'o and they went to the minister, Wang Tun. But the minister didn't want to hear any bad news, so he cut off the magician's head and Hsu Chen-shiin escaped in the commotion.
He boarded a boat drawn by 2 dragons who carried him to the Lu Shan Mountains. when he looked out of the boat, the dragons saw him and left him on the mountain, flying off home.
