  • Was killed by Archbishop of Rouen, St. Romanus (Romain) in the 7th Century.
  • Spouts water under tremendous pressure and is sometimes referred to as the "gargler"
  • Sometimes shown with fins
  • Gargoyles are made in his likeness.

Sea monster that created great floods and then would eat whatever was left behind. St. Romain and a convicted criminal went to the lair, lured him out, and St. Romain made a cross with his fingers. This made the monster docile and he was led back to the village.
