What follows is a summary of tale #184 found in the book.

As a poor young man traveled, praying at all the temples for help, he came across an older man carrying a snake on a pole. They queried each other and the younger man offered his coat in exchange for the snake. Both agreed. So the young man took the snake back to the lake and set it free.

A short while later, he came across a beautiful girl who thanked him for saving her and led him to the lake's dragon king. In gratitude for saving his daughter, the dragon king gave the man 1/2 a golden cake to use as needed. So, for the rest of his life he never wanted for money.

The golden cake disappeared when he died.
