Characteristics:
  • Breath Fire
  • Notorious for never giving up
  • Reside in streams and under the earth
  • Some believe that it's a product of lizards and Wyrms
  • Eats people (maidens), and steals cattle, and loves the taste of horse
Description:
  • Scaley and green-gold coloured and have cat-like sharp eyes
  • No legs or feet, but do have wings. Other sources say it has feet, but no wings.
Associations / Symbolism:
  • Symbol of war and pestilence
Origins and Historocity:
  • A lindorm skull discovered in 1335 was revealed to be that of a wholly rhino in 1935 by R. Pusching. The skull was the inspiration for a late 16th century dragon-shaped fountain.
  • Origins in the Germanic Lore, although other sources place it in the Americas and discovered by Marco Polo.
